According to reports, a Grade 8 female student entered a classroom and launched a sudden and violent attack on younger students using a kitchen knife. The victims included seven Grade 5 students, comprising both boys and girls, who were injured after being repeatedly stabbed during the assault.
The video footage reportedly shows the senior student entering the classroom and attacking students seated in the front row without warning. Panic quickly spread across the room as the attacker continued striking randomly, leaving several students in a state of shock and unable to immediately respond. In desperation, students attempted to escape the classroom while using their school bags as shields to protect themselves from further attacks.
Reports further stated that an internal meeting involving teaching staff was underway at the time of the incident, which resulted in the absence of immediate adult intervention despite the screams of the students inside the classroom.
Among the seven injured students, two required surgical treatment due to the severity of their injuries, according to local media reports. The 14-year-old accused has since been transferred to a mental health facility for evaluation. It remains unclear how the student managed to bring a kitchen knife into the school premises at the time of the incident.
The shocking episode has triggered concern among authorities, with the Philippine National Police urging educational institutions nationwide to strengthen internal security systems and enforce stricter safety checks to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident has highlighted serious questions regarding school safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and student protection mechanisms within educational institutions.
